We purchased the Franciscan properties in NE Edmonton in 2005. These buildings were designated as historical resources by both the City of Edmonton and the Province of Alberta. The properties sit on 3.5 acres of land. A 1.2-acre parcel was subdivided out for a future affordable seniors housing project for low income seniors.
Through the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and into the 90’s the gym fell into disuse and became a storage facility including a home for the garden tractor. The gym was restored in 2006 through the generosity of Tom Sheppard a long time benefactor. Today, the gym is fully booked year round by six of our tenants for children and youth in their programs. Now that the buildings are fully occupied by 14 not-for-profit and charitable organizations who call St Francis Center home, there is an urgent need to restore the stage for cultural, ceremonial, music and performing arts programs.
As soon as we raise the required $70,000.00 dollars, we will move forward with the Stage Restoration Project.
